The pieces I make contrast the old and new, as separate elements that overtake one another.

Metal is a powerful element and evidence of human intervention is an important component in the narrative that my pieces build.  Casting offers both additive and subtractive methods of crafting, as well as the inclusion of materials other than wax.  Found objects are built into models and cast as a method in natural replication.  Several of my works include found materials that are either invested in the mold or added to the body of the piece.

As both a wearable piece and sculptural object, that has a place both on and off the body, that can interact with body as a part of life or exist on its own as a monolithic form

pushing the juxtaposition between refined and raw by highlighting the distinction between elements. The introduction of casting grain was an opportunity to be more selective and controlling over the patterns that Iā€™m employing 

The decorative nature of the grain also offers a fine jewelry language which changes the narrative and shifts the way the viewer confronts the state of decay
