Lost wax  casting is both a long standing traditional technique in metal smithing and a modern primary tool used in rapid prototyping.  The pieces I make contrast the old and new, as separate elements that overtake one another.  Casting exists in the practices of fine jewelry but also in industrial systems and fabrication.  Metal is a powerful element and evidence of human intervention is an important component in the narrative that my pieces build.  Casting offers both additive and subtractive methods of crafting, as well as the inclusion of materials other than wax.  Found objects are built into models and cast as a method in natural replication.  Several of my works include found materials that are either invested in the mold or added to the body of the piece.
